A Word About Trade Size Books

In January of 2008 we implemented a new credit policy for trade size books. These are the larger size books which run from $10.95 to $24.95 jacket price. We have limited space to shelve these larger books, and they receive a larger credit. So, in order to accomodate these books, when you return them, you must spend that credit on trade size books.
I tell people "If they are coming in, they must go out". A few years ago books came in paperback and hardcover. Now, the publishers first put them in hardcover, then trade size, then the new "premium" size then the regular size. What is a small used book store to do?
My shop was designed to hold only the regular size paperback books on the shelves, and we are doing our best to accomodate these other sizes. So please make a note for yourselves that when you return trade size books for credit you need to spend the credit you receive on the trade size books. You cannot spend that credit on regular size.
Annie's Book Stop in Waltham is the only Annie's which still allows you to spend all your credit on your visit. All of the other Annie's have adopted a policy of only being allowed to spend half your credit.
I hope that you will spread the word about Annie's in Waltham. Tell your book reading friends. We don't advertise, so word of mouth is the only way we can get new customers.
